Proptech Australia has announced the launch of a groundbreaking Property Energy Efficiency Features Standard, a new initiative aimed at streamlining property data across the real estate sector.
Proptech organisations - both new, emerging, and established players - have rushed to sign up to the new standard - that promises to make visible the features of a home that support its performance, cost to run and use of energy.
This standardised approach to classifying and communicating energy efficiency property features will benefit buyers, sellers, agents, and property technology companies and support a raft of new innovation designed to help Australia reduce its carbon footprint and improve housing quality.
The Proptech Energy Efficiency Features Standard provides a clear and consistent framework for describing property attributes, ensuring all stakeholders use the same terminology and definitions. This eliminates ambiguity, reduces errors, and facilitates smoother transactions.
“Proptech companies can now proactively prepare for Home Energy Ratings with the Proptech Energy Efficiency Features Standard,” said Cecille Weldon, the CEO of f Weldonco and head of the Proptech Australia energy efficiency committee. “The Proptech Energy Efficiency Features Standard provides a comprehensive framework for defining key property attributes essential for accurate energy assessments.”
Ms Weldon said the new standard was a game-changer for energy efficiency in real estate.
“By providing a clear and consistent way to describe property features, we’re enabling proptech companies to integrate energy performance data into their platforms seamlessly,” she said.
“This will not only streamline transactions but also empower consumers to make informed decisions based on accurate and transparent information.”
