Proptech Australia raises $9,100 to combat youth homelessness

Sydney (July 8): A total of $9,100 was raised at Proptech Australia’s gala awards night in Sydney to help the charity, Proptech Industry Foundation, combat youth homelessness.

A silent auction was held at the fifth annual Proptech of the Year awards, which attracted more than 330 guests to the Fullerton Hotel, Sydney, last Thursday night.

Technology for the silent auction was supplied by RESO, an offer management platform that has been a longtime member of Proptech Australia.

The CEO of the Property Industry Foundation, Kate Mills, thanked Proptech Australia and its members for their support. “All your donations will go towards our cause of building homes for homeless youth.

“So far, we have built an extra 278 bedrooms for homeless youth on the eastern seaboard, which delivers over 100,000 safe nights of sleep to young people in need. With your help, we can build more bedrooms and give more young people a second chance.”

The President of Proptech Australia, Kylie Davis, said: “It is the first time we have supported the foundation, and raising $9,100 is a great achievement. I’d like to thank all our guests at the awards for making an important contribution to end youth homelessness.”

Ms Davis also thanked industry senior executives who had agreed to give their time and expertise as part of the prizes. “Our fundraising would not have been possible without the support of executives of some of the biggest companies in real estate,” said Ms Davis. “We are very grateful to them for agreeing to give their time to this worthy cause.”

RESO chief executive AJ Chand, who is a Board member of Proptech Australia, said the silent auction had been a great way to showcase the platform.

“As an offer management platform for buyers, it wasn’t hard to alter the technology slightly to allow it to accept silent auction bids and being involved was a great way for other proptechs to see how the platform works,” Mr Chand said.

“RESO is unique in that buyers cannot see other bids, but the platform does tell them where their offer is ranked. So it really encourages people to put their best offer forward. This worked really well for the silent auction and the RESO team is thrilled that we have helped raise so much money for a great industry charity.”

Four unique prizes were offered at the silent auction.
