Proptech Australia has confirmed the line up for the three “Satellite Events” that have been planned for November 13 – the eve of the annual Proptech Forum that is to be held at the Real Estate Institute of Victoria in Melbourne. All three events have been planned for the afternoon of November 13 and will be held in three separate locations. Individuals may attend only one event.

The two-hour workshops will be hosted by REA Group, Domain Group, and Cecille Weldon with participation from the CSIRO.

These events are designed to be small-scale with a maximum attendance of 30. Each one is structured so you can explore ideas, ask lots of questions and participate in open discussions.

Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

After the Satellite Events, we can de-camp to the nearby CherryTree Hotel in Cremorne to enjoy “Pitch in the Pub” – a pitch-fest open to startups and pre-startups.

It should be a fun evening of networking. Proptech Australia will supply drinks and finger food.

Satellite Event 3:

The Commercial Opportunities of Energy Efficiency

With Cecille Weldon, WeldonCo and joined by Dr Pippa Soccio, CSIRO and Gill Armstrong ClimateWorks

The forthcoming energy efficiency ratings for homes and apartments is a transformative moment for Australian real estate with huge opportunities for proptechs.

We dive deep into the impact and opportunities of the new data sets and insights that will flow including the importance of standardising energy efficiency data sets to deliver consistent data infrastructure and how that will empower a host of innovation.

This is a unique opportunity to learn directly from Australia’s foremost residential energy efficiency experts and understand how your proptech can seize the commercial advantage and be one of the first to innovate in this exciting sector.

In this two-hour workshop, we’ll bring together our own Proptech Energy Efficiency Features Standard and align this with the new lens on apartment usage data, and the power of housing typology data to fast-track engagement in the new property upgrades.

This an exclusive opportunity for members.

Cecille will be joined by two outstanding leaders in residential energy efficiency data and insights.

Pippa Soccio, Senior Research Scientist from CSIRO, Social Impact and Living

Real-world apartment usage data

Pippa will provide an overview of her groundbreaking work "Apartment energy and behaviour study”.

Australian first, gathering real-world data on apartment household energy usage, with a focus on cooking habits, work and study routines, and activities related to relaxation, cleaning, and maintaining indoor comfort. Occupants in the study access live data on air quality and comfort of their apartments.

Dr Gill Armstrong

Renovation Pathways for Australian homes

Gill will outline the pivotal work developed by ClimateWorks which brings together 16 Australian housing typologies to inform the energy efficiency property upgrade.

To upgrade our homes at scale we need a better understanding of existing buildings, across all climate zones and for different kinds of homes – single detached dwellings, townhouses and apartments. Currently, this understanding is a key missing piece of knowledge that hinders clear guidelines for busy homeowners, investors and renters.
